Kate Pinchuck is a multi-award-winning writer, actor, and stand-up comedian. Kate returned from the 2018 National Arts Festival as a double Ovation award-winner, receiving acclaim for her debut theatrical one-woman show, Medusa Incarnate, which she wrote and performed, as well as her performance as the AI system SUSANN in dystopian future sci-fi, Gaslight.
Kate received another Ovation award for her two-hander stand-up comedy show, Frizz Pop, with comedian Lindy Johnson And, in 2023 and 2024, Kate had back-to-back wins with two more Ovation Awards for her shows Trash Mouth and Don’t Panic. Her work can be seen on Showmax as Taryn in Tali’s Baby Diary, which earned her a SAFTA nomination, and in the Frizz Pop, Funny People Africa, and Laugh at First Sight comedy specials.

In 2019, Kate received another Ovation award for her two-hander stand-up comedy show, Frizz Pop, with comedian Lindy Johnson. And, in 2023 and 2024, Kate had back-back wins with two more Ovation Awards for her shows Trash Mouth and Don’t Panic.
Kate has been consistently rising up in the comedy scene and has taped two line-up comedy specials for Mannequin Films, Laugh At First Sight, (DSTV on Demand/Showmax) and Funny People Africa (Showmax). Her stand-up can also be seen in sketch comedy and stand-up series Comedy Mixtape (SABC 2), and a Frizz Pop line-up show on Showmax.
Her film and TV work includes her role as Taryn Wiener in the Showmax hit Tali’s Baby Diary, the sequel to the successful first season of Tali’s Wedding Diary – which earned her a SAFTA nomination, and she returned to the role in the third season Tali’s Jo’burg Diary. Kate has also appeared in various sketches in Comedy Mixtape (SABC 2), and a supporting role as quirky roommate Anika in Amy Jephta’s rom-com, Late Bloomer (Mnet & Showmax). Kate also makes a cameo appearance in Amazon’s The Shakedown, and has a new film “TITLE” coming out in February 2025.
Kate has extensive theatre experience too. She spent two years performing Athol Fugard’s My Children! My Africa! at the Artscape (2017, 2018), directed by Roy Sargeant. In 2018, she took on the comic Shakespearean role of Hortensio in the critically acclaimed all-female production of The Taming of the Shrew at Maynardville Open Air Theatre, under the direction of Tara Notcutt.
